Lucy joined Croftons in 2006 and was made a partner in 2008. She specialises in Social Housing property matters including development and regeneration, site acquisitions, s106 Agreements, setting up shared ownership/new build HomeBuy schemes for sale, leases, building contracts, property sales and acquisitions, supported housing schemes and management agreements. Lucy has also developed a special interest and expertise in green technology for social landlords and in particular the installation of solar PV panels.
Many social housing providers are taking advantage of the Government’s Feed in Tariff incentives and grasping the opportunity to go green, reduce their carbon footprint and provide low cost electricity to tenants by installing photovoltaic solar panels on their existing housing. Lucy is working with clients to “chart new territory” and create legal solutions to business opportunities. Whilst there are many benefits there are also some pitfalls to consider and avoid! Lucy has produced a Guide to Solar Photovoltaic Panels to help social housing providers and their advisors negotiate their way through this relatively unchartered territory.
Lucy comments “there are many issues which social housing providers need to consider before embarking on a solar panel installation scheme, many of the issues are addressed in our Guide and any social housing provider considering this scheme should be aware of the issues and pros and cons before they start. This is a far more complex process than routine maintenance or upgrading work.” If you would like a copy of our Guide to Solar Photovoltaic Panels please email Lucy
Lucy heads the department’s business development and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, Women in Property and the Property Section of the Law Society.
When Lucy is not busy looking after her young daughter, she enjoys watching motor sport, gardening, being creative in customising old pieces of furniture and creating her own artwork, going to classic car and VW shows and trying to find the time to restore a classic car.
