Home > Award Limit Increase in Employment Tribunal

In case you weren’t aware, from 1st February 2012, there has been an increase in the maximum amounts which can be awarded following a successful claim in the Employment Tribunal.

• The maximum unfair dismissal award has risen to £72,300 from £68,400
• When calculating statutory redundancy payments and unfair dismissal awards, the maximum weekly salary to be taken into account has increased to £430 from £400.

To benefit from this increase, the circumstances giving rise to the claim in the tribunal must have occurred on or after 1 February 2012.

This was, and still is a welcome step in favour of the employee given the current climate of “pro-employer” reform.

For an indication of what you could now stand to receive following a redundancy or an unfair dismissal, or for any other employment query contact us to arrange a free, no obligation consultation.
