SANDS is an organisation to support parents of babies that die during pregnancy and after birth. 17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day in the UK.

Losing a child at any stage of life is a devastating experience and one that most will never get over. Charities like this don’t profess to help families ‘get over it’, they simply provide support to help them learn to accept what has happened and to live with it. In addition the charity aims to improve care by providing information to professionals caring for bereaved families and also works towards research which will help reduce the amount of stillbirths and neonatal deaths.

Internally this was an extremely popular charity with Croftons staff. It has been known to be of immense value and support to friends and family of staff affected by the loss of a baby. We are therefore very eager to assist the charity by donating funds to them from our Christmas Charity Fund.
