Home > Barnabus, Manchester

Barnabus is a Christian Homeless Charity based in Manchester. What started out around 20 years ago with just one man walking the streets, giving out food and drink to the homeless has now become a lifeline to hundreds of people each week through various projects, many of whom have severe addictions or mental health issues.

Through Vinelife Church, Manchester, I’ve had the honour and privilege to be part of Street OutReach teams that regularly go out onto into the city centre with food, warm drinks, blankets etc., and we’ve met lots of men and women who call the streets of Manchester their home: a university lecturer, a labourer, a musician, a tailor, a father, a widow, a prostitute, an elderly lady scared for her safety, a young female who in the midst of winter had nothing but the thin clothes on her back and yet refused our offers of food, drink and warm clothes, telling us to ‘give it to someone who needs it’. How humbling.

Their motto is ‘bringing hope to the homeless and vulnerable’ and they do this by supporting their physical, emotional and spiritual needs, and provide help to get them back into mainstream society. Barnabus receives no government funding and is fully reliant on donations. This Christmas, we want to gift part of our Christmas Charity Fund to them, as a symbol of our support for the work that they do in our city.
For more about the projects that they run and for the work that they do, have a look at the Barnabus website.

Please now vote to help us decide how to divide our Christmas Charity Fund.
