Home > Advice for Winter Driving…

Check out our tips for getting your car prepared for winter driving on our specialist personal injury blog. And then once your car is ready…

1. Check the radio / news for any announcements about accidents, road closures etc so that you can plan the best route to your destination. It’s always a good idea to let someone know your route so if you do become stranded you can be found!

2. Take extra care on the roads; accelerate gently, turn slowly, and brake carefully and early. Avoid sudden changes in speed and / direction which could put you in a spin and make sure that you leave a greater distance between you and the vehicle in front.  At the same time – don’t go too slow – you need to have momentum to make sure that you don’t get stuck in the heavier snow!

3. Anticipate turns, stops, and lane changes well before they occur.

4. See and be seen. Always keep your headlights on while driving through rain, snow, and fog. Though remember that inappropriate use of front and rear fog lights is an offence as they can dazzle other road users.
